Sometimes Jayce is genuinely egotistical and sometimes he is playing up his ego for fun, and if it amuses Viktor, it's worth it. He would absolutely be offended at the mere suggestion of people judging their pairing, specifically because of Viktor. Judging because they work together, a little more reasonable, but sometimes Jayce is always on the edge of starting a fight when people slight his partner. It is why he aggressively insists on Viktor getting as much credit as he does, even as people still only pay attention to him. But he tries. Stubbornly.
Viktor saved his life and he is the smartest person he knows, probably the smartest person in this whole city if you ask Jayce. He is a little biased, but only because he's spent so much time with his partner. No one else will defend him, and Viktor normally ignores it, so Jayce is ready to fight over it. He's an emotional and passionate person, sometimes to his detriment, but occasionally to his benefit.
He doesn't like the idea of Viktor going out into the cold rain but they really have no choice, it's not letting up. Jayce follows him as close as he can and it doesn't occur to him to go anywhere but back to the academy. After they proved their experiment, Jayce was given new quarters instead of having to live on the outside. He knew that Viktor didn't live there in a vague sort of way, but they were always in the lab together.
Jayce is still holding Viktor's hand as he looks at the apartment, the cold now officially getting to even him, soaked but doing alright. He walks them up to the building and turns to look at Viktor, smiling at him. "I thought our first date involved creating a Hextech portal." Jayce cannot resist leaning in and stealing another kiss from Viktor, although they're both cold as are their lips. Whatever, a cold kiss from Viktor is better than a warm one from anyone else.
