Jayce leans in the opposite direction, being more oblivious than most to what is happening around him. It is one of his blind spots, hyper-focused on one or two things at a time, and indifferent to anything outside of his work. It is that kind of negligence that led to his apartment blowing up and starting this entire thing, although he still has no idea who broke in. It wouldn't occur to him to care about the weather when they have arcane information to search for. He is healthy and strong so has the benefit of boundless energy.

He is much better at chatting with people like this noble, but it does not mean he likes it. Some people are worth engaging with, such as Mel, but more of them are like this man. Still, he has incredible manuscripts and information, and Jayce eagerly takes advantage of his bright and warm persona to charm the man. He would have loved to pour over the manuscripts himself, but it made more sense for them to tag team, for Viktor to focus on the information they needed, and Jayce to get them more time. This is why they make good partners. They didn't even have to discuss the strategy going in; it was a natural split of effort.

They were longer than he expected and it is only now with the road ahead of him he gives any thought to the weather or the walk back. Jayce frowns up at the sky like it is betraying him by being troublesome, and his able-bodied obliviousness is put aside and replaced with concern for Viktor. It is a distance. And it is rain. Not that he would ever be so unwise as to bring that up without Viktor indicating whether something was difficult for him or not. He can be an idiot, but he always does mean well.

"I take it you're satisfied with the information that we got, at least. It could've been worse." Like they followed a possibility and came up empty. Or Jayce had to deal with someone more obnoxious than the typical pompous noble. He would ordinarily pick up the pace with rain starting to sprinkle down, but then Viktor might feel required to keep up.

"It's crazy that not that long ago, I wouldn't have dared to even bring up the arcane to anyone. Now people are eager to show off their collections." If it means something, if it can make them special when Hextech takes off.
