The wind shifts again and Viktor barely feels it, braced as he is against Jayce. In a distracted way he thinks of the immediate future, that Jayce is going to end up with a cold if he soaks himself through acting as Viktor's makeshift umbrella and furnace. That Jayce hasn't even bat an eye at it yet, stubborn as he is to help where he can. That anyone else would at least expect something in his experience, but Jayce doesn't, not even to be admired for his actions, like he really is just happy to be here, huddled in the rain under an awning.
Jayce cups his cheek and Viktor feels his hopes traitorously raise. Jayce asks about that hope and Viktor can't help a soft snort, reaching up tentatively to curl his fingers around Jayce's wrist. He can't even consider formulating an answer because this close Viktor can see the little scar Jayce got from the broken window in Heimerdinger's office, or the slight, irritatingly charming gap in his teeth, or how sincere his smile is.
Even that flies out the window when Jayce's lips brush against his, an electric jolt of shock that freezes Viktor in place before he releases Jayce's wrist to cup his jaw and return the favor. Just as gently, not hesitant but careful, as though it's a precious moment to be catalogued properly rather than lost in a rush of nerves and instinct.
"Ah, I suppose I was hoping for that," Viktor mutters as they part, accent a little thicker this low and distracted. A brief moment and he is the one who moves to kiss Jayce again, the soft sigh as they part lost to a low rumble of thunder. He curses under his breath in his first language and says, "As tempting as it is to continue this particular experiment immediately we... should get you inside. You are going to catch your death, and I will be forced to buy an actual space heater."
