Jayce knows that Viktor hates being coddled, although he's never had to be told, he understood that from right when they met. When Viktor said everyone underestimated him for being a poor cripple from the undercity. That told him plenty, so he's found ways to work around Viktor's leg so he never feels condescended to while also not pushing it unreasonably. His partner is the smartest person he's ever met, he knows how to handle himself. Still, he can't deny incoming rain and wind are concerning. Jayce runs hot, between his bulk and endless energy, but he keeps an eye out for if there's somewhere they can duck into it if gets actually bad.

"I only stopped when it seemed like it would threaten my ability to get a patron and go to the academy." And yes, young Jayce had his ambitious eyes on the future, so he figured out his path very early. He had a strategic mind, but it's always been about the passion lying underneath, the certainty of his purpose. Shutting up was hard, but he did it.

Jayce instinctively touches the crystal where it is on his wrist, it's one of his most common tics, usually when he's thinking too much. He glances over at Viktor and smiles. "Too bad for me. I'm not sure if you've figured this out, but I'm kind of a show-off." Joking about some of his flaws is something he is getting better at, ever since Viktor dryly pointed out his egotism over his signature. "Is that why you think you were more open to listening to me?"
