[ If the hickeys don't do it, Jayce's mouth absolutely will. It is the natural reaction to being told Viktor doesn't care. Great! Then it's not a secret. And Jayce can not even attempt to be subtle while flashing his lovesick looks at his partner. Everyone wins. He would have felt similarly even back home. Maybe he would have been a little nervous to be so shameless, but he would've done it anyway. He's already said he wouldn't be afraid of people knowing their golden boy belonged to a Zaunite. Fuck them, frankly. But they don't have to worry about it here.
He has faith that the connection they share will remain no matter what happens in the future. He understands it won't always be this good, but he has never been in this relationship with the idea that it would be perfect. He's in it to the end, whether that's five months from now, or decades from now. Especially when they're embracing like this, close and content and happy. ]
I don't think we can share a bath but no time like the present to see how that goes.
[ Jayce smiles, he has to wash off too, but they might have to take turns. Or use the shower. Either way, he is not quite ready to unglue himself from Viktor. He'll have to tomorrow, and that is fine. They'll figure out how all this works once they go outside. He snags Viktor's hand and kisses the fingertips. ]
I promise that at least eighty percent of the time I will be good about that.
[That gets him to roll his eyes, but it's wholly affectionate.]
Fine. You have my permission.
[He wonders momentarily, what it might mean for their research and their business, if it become common knowledge that they're romantically involved, but it takes only a moment for Viktor to decide he doesn't care about that, either. Let them think whatever they want. All that matters is this bed, and Jayce in it.
It's hard to move, but he does, telling himself this is just a temporary intermission. They're definitely not both going to fit in the bathtub, but it might be funny to try. Viktor ushers them both out of bed, foregoing his crutch to lean on Jayce, instead. He's about to make a joke about how, as a mathematician, he should never be offered percentages--because he'll hold Jayce to them, of course--but he decides that for now, he's finished teasing.
Viktor stops them both in the doorway, turns Jayce to face him, and then bends him closer, craning upward just slightly so that they can meet in the middle.]
I do love you, Jayce. [Before he can answer (perhaps, on purpose), Viktor closes the last inch to kiss him slowly. Sincerely, hoping to drive the point home.] Very much. I hope you know that.
[ Jayce is happy to be leaned on and he likes that both of them seem to want to touch each other as much as possible. He slides an arm around Viktor's waist to make it easier for him to lean, but pauses when he does at the doorway, smiling down at him. He bends down exactly as Viktor wants, expecting a kiss, he doesn't expect that.
He'd been telling himself that he didn't care if Viktor never said it. He knows how he feels, he's showing Jayce constantly. Jayce feels loved, so he doesn't need the words, it's fine. Except when he gets the words, it's like the air has been sucked out of the room. Or the rest of the world doesn't exist because Viktor loves him.
His eyes go a little misty and he can't help it, his smile so soft, and he holds Viktor's close to him for a moment. Jayce kisses him again, just as sincerely. ]
Well if you love me. [ He kisses Viktor's nose. ] You'll have to forgive me for this.
[ Jayce leans down and sweeps an arm under Viktor's knees, careful so as not to hurt him, hoisting him up into Jayce's arms. He doesn't weigh that much so it seems extremely easy for Jayce to do this, and he grins at him, ear-to-ear. He carries him toward the bath and their ridiculous attempt to see how they can share. ]
