[Viktor pulls away, a signal that he's about to say something very serious, and wants Jayce to understand the gravity of it. There's no hint of joking in his voice--he seems entirely sincere.]

Jayce, I'm always thinking of you.

[Even when he's angry. Even when Jayce has done something nearly unthinkable, as evidenced by the fact that he was stuffing his pockets full of rocks for him before the trip went south, when he thought it would be a simple half-day excursion to get his mind off things. Turns out he wasn't really able to do that, a testament to how inextricable they've become.

He shifts a little on the mattress, leaning back into Jayce's chest and inviting him to wrap a hand around his middle. Viktor laces their fingers together while he thinks of an answer to the question--but the truth is he's worked so hard to focus on his work that he's left little time for a future he never thought would belong to him.

I'm not sure. Something like this, maybe. [Vague brushstrokes. Jayce would be kind, and considerate, and would like being told what to do. They would share quiet mornings, then go to the lab and get to work, and go home together at night. He feels increasingly vulnerable even thinking about it, and he has to fight his own kneejerk reaction to close everything back up.] You know...when I arrived here, alone, I was certain I'd never see you again.
