This is so Viktor can try and swig the blood out of his mouth rather than have to swallow it all down. He looks very somber and doesn't realize his fingers are shaking slightly as they brush through Viktor's dark hair.
"I might know a way to get a crystal." They can finish the Hexcore but it won't do any good if they don't have a power source.
